Group Wellesley, Inc. is a Pittsburgh, PA-based firm providing technical writing, training, interface design, XML publishing, and usability testing services. We are dedicated to helping our clients create, manage, and deliver highly usable technical documentation using appropriate tools and technologies. Group Wellesley was founded in 2000 and incorporated in 2004. Co-founders Alan Houser and Mary Louise Ray are both graduates of the Carnegie Mellon University Masters in Professional Writing program.

Alan Houser Bio

Alan Houser is co-founder and president of Group Wellesley, Inc. and a distinguished consultant and trainer in the fields of XML, XML technologies, publishing workflows, and authoring and publishing tools. He is a certified instructor in Adobe FrameMaker and a certified professional technical communicator.

Houser is a Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication and a popular presenter at technical communication conferences. He has presented at conferences offered by the following organizations:

  • Norwegian Computing Society
  • Society for Technical Communication
  • Tekom
  • WritersUA

In April 2011, Houser was elected to Vice President, with automatic succession to President, of the Society for Technical Communication. He served a total of three years on the STC board of directors.

Houser earned a M.A. in Professional Writing and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
